The beetroot is a typically Dutch product, which has become increasingly popular over the past few years. In addition to a variety of applications in the kitchen, red beets are also tremendously healthy. Beetroots contain a lot of folic acid, manganese, potassium, copper, iron, fibre, and magnesium. Holland Food Trade beetroots are farmed in West-Friesland on loam soil. This makes them tastier, easy to boil, and gives them a deep red colour.

The beetroot is a two-year crop which generates a root pen in the first year. During the second year, the root pen grows into a tuber. The farming season starts in March and ends in September.
Beetroots are harvested between May and November. A top-lifting harvesting machine is used for this. Industry crops are also harvested using a potato harvester.
After harvesting, the beetroots are stored under optimal storage conditions. This means a constant temperature, sufficient natural ventilation, and relatively high humidity.
The beetroots are Global Gap certified.
